Sugar soothes kids' immunization pain

You've heard the song, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. It turns out, a little sugar may also help children with pain.Canadian researchers found infants who were given a sugar solution during needle sticks experienced less pain than those in the control group.

And in a second study, six to 12-year-olds who were given a cooling spray on their skin beforehand had more success with an IV insertion than kids who got a placebo treatment.
