"The menu was designed by Michael Cimarusti from Providence, who is one of the top chefs in Los Angeles," said Citysearch editor Tara De Lis. "Coffee drinks are like a science experiment, and the vibe here is very boutique."
"Instead of using traditional syrups and powders and emulsifiers, we're infusing, extracting, and cooking for the different base ingredients to make our beverages, so it's really taking on more of a culinary art type approach," said Craig Min from Lamill Coffee Boutique.
At nearby Intelligentsia, the line forms around 10 a.m.
"It's a walking neighborhood. People in the area walk up and down the street -- all the shops -- this area was already a draw before we got here," said Ty McNulty from Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea.
"A Citysearch favorite since it opened in its native Chicago, and this the first location outside of the windy city. Great spot here in Silver Lake, and definitely known for people watching and very dog friendly," De Lis said.
There's great people watching at Urth Caffee in West Hollywood.
"The taste of the quality of coffee is unbeatable. They know it's protecting the environment at the same time. Celebrities and local people love the taste and health qualities as well," said Shallom Berman from Urth Caffe.
"Urth was one of the original places in Los Angeles to offer organic coffee, and not just that, they now offer actually vegetables, healthy dishes, vegetarian meals, organic friendly food," De Lis said.
Joni's in Marina Del Rey has a neighborly feel.
"You meet so easily. Before you know it, you're sharing a section of the paper. A couple of weeks later, you're sitting together and that kind of thing," said Joni Aragon from Joni's Coffee Roasting Cafe.
They roast all their beans in house. You can watch them make it. Everything is made as a single cup of joe. It's very fresh, been around for years. Plus, great lunch and breakfast dishes," De Lis said.
