Prehistoric elephants discovered on farm

An archeological dig is under way to unearth two mastodons, or prehistoric elephants, north of Indianapolis.

The property owner found a large leg bone when he excavated his pond. The Indiana State Museum identified the bones as from an adult female who died about 12,000 years ago.

A second set of remains is also being examined, and the remains will eventually be on display at the Indiana State Museum.
