New allegations against Countrywide

July 18, 2008 6:35:01 AM PDT
State officials have added new allegations to their lawsuit against Countrywide for misleading mortgage customers. In the latest filing, California Attorney General Jerry Brown said Countrywide rewarded employees for selling risky loans. Brown claims the lender also ignored borrower's low credit scores.

The original complaint filed in June accuses the company of engaging in deceptive advertising and other unfair practices.

Countrywide has not commented on the new information.
