LAPD wants to change discipline policy

LOS ANGELES The police commission could vote on a proposal later Tuesday that would allow Chief William Bratton to sidestep the formal review process and hand out less severe punishment in use-of-force cases.

Some say the change will make officers less accountable for their actions.

Right now, an officer who violates department policy is subject to a formal review to determine if any disciplinary action should be taken.
