Study supports O.C. toll road extension

July 30, 2008 6:32:02 AM PDT
A new study could rev new life into the proposed extension of the Orange County toll road.An independent peer review found that the 16-mile, $875 million project won't affect conditions at the legendary surfing site at Trestles.

That contradicts the views of the project's opponents.

The California Coastal Commission rejected the project in February, but the Transportation Corridor Agencies have since filed an appeal to the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The TCA says the expansion is a better alternative than widening the 5 Freeway.
