Elderly woman is victim of lottery scam

LANCASTER Deputies in Lancaster are hoping surveillance photos will help them catch the suspects. At least two of the suspects were photographed at a market last week as they approached the unidentified victim.

One suspect said he had won the lottery and needed her help in collecting the winnings. The suspects later convinced the victim to withdraw her life savings in order to collect a $400,000 prize.

Soon after the victim realized she had been the victim of a con.

"This is her life savings and she's been crying over this loss," said Dep. Miguel Torres from the Lancaster Sheriff's Department. "She's very depressed. She's upset, of course. She can't believe she fell into this scam."

The suspects, three men and one woman, are believed to be in their late 30s or early 40s.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lancaster Sheriff's Department at (661) 948-8466.
