Low vitamin D may lead to early death

August 12, 2008 1:46:16 PM PDT
A new study shows that low levels of vitamin D could lead to premature death.According to researchers at John Hopkins University, vitamin D deficiency is linked to certain cancers, diabetes and bone and immune system problems.

However, this is the first study connecting shortages of vitamin D to a higher risk of death.

Researchers say the results lead them to believe low vitamin D levels are related to heart disease deaths, but more tests need to be done.
