Tap water may be linked to diabetes

August 20, 2008 10:10:59 AM PDT
A new study is linking low level arsenic exposure, possibly from drinking water, to diabetes.Researchers at Johns Hopkins found an increase in the risk of diabetes in people with low arsenic concentrations in their urine.

The link has been made before, but what's new is the low levels.

Scientists believe the arsenic may come from tap water, but more study is needed.

Experts point out the public water system is now meeting tough new standards on arsenic levels.
