August 20, 2008 11:59:08 AM PDT
United Airlines will become the first carrier to stop serving meals in the coach cabin on some overseas flights. On October 1, the airline will reportedly stop serving free meals to passengers on some domestic business class flights, including flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to New York.

These changes follow cost-cutting measures by airlines dealing with a more then 50 percent jump in the price of jet fuel during the past year.
