September 4, 2008 1:00:16 AM PDT
A pedestrian was critically hurt Wednesday afternoon at the end of a police pursuit of a stolen car suspect in the Lincoln Heights area that left another driver with minor injuries, authorities said. The pedestrian died after being taken to a hospital in critical condition.

An unidentified suspect was taken into custody, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section. That suspect is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and evading police.

The chase ended at 2355 N. Griffin Ave., near Broadway, about 2:20 p.m.

The suspect, a man in his 30s, was allegedly driving a red convertible Mazda RX7 when the vehicle collided in an intersection with a van traveling westbound on Broadway. A 36-year-old woman was reportedly injured in the van.
