Roommate argument turns deadly

DOWNTOWN L.A. LAPD received the call about 2:15 p.m. Thursday. A man told the dispatcher he just shot his roommate. The suspect was taken away by police Thursday afternoon without incident to the Hollenbeck Station for questioning and to give a formal statement.

Police say both the suspect and the victim are white males in their mid-40s. It is not known how long the men lived in the building, but police say the argument had something to do with their living arrangement and that led up to the shooting.

"Once the suspect had called 911 to report that he had just killed his roommate, the officers responded to investigate. The suspect had surrendered himself without incident. He was taken into custody, and the fire department had responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene," said LAPD Sergeant Ruby Malachi.

The victim has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
