Desha, a seven-year veteran of the L.A.P.D., was returning home to Simi Valley after a day's work as a training officer at her department's downtown headquarters.
"She was a model officer that did her job and did it well. She didn't need a lot of accolades, she just did here job," said LAPD captain Sharyn Buck. "She is really going to be missed it's just a tragic situation all the way around for her and her family and all the others that were on the train."
Officer Desha had transferred downtown only a month before the accident. She previously worked as a patrol officer in the San Fernando Valley.
