Karen Long and her husband Paul were returning home on the train after attending a funeral for Paul's mother.
"And I just remember rolling in the air. I must have rolled in the air and landed on my shoulder and my side. (Paul) flew through the air too, and he landed in the stairwell, and he must have hit his head on the sharp edge of the step because as I understand he had massive brain trauma," Karen Long said.
Paul Long, an English teacher in Ventura County, died at County USC Medical Center.
