Man killed in Van Nuys hit-and-run

Police are looking for the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run accident in Van Nuys. The accident happened at the corner of Hazeltine Avenue and Amelita Street when a man was hit and killed as he tried to cross the street just before 8 p.m. Saturday night.

Police say the driver immediately left the scene.

The 59-year-old victim died at a nearby hospital later in the evening. Authorities have not yet released his name.

From witness accounts police are now looking for a black male in his 20's. Authorities believe he was driving a green 1980's model two-door Toyota Celica.
