Birth weight linked to breast cancer?

A new analysis of previous research confirms that what a woman weighs at birth may give some clue about her risk of breast cancer later in life.

Scientists in the United Kingdom reviewed more than 22,000 cases of breast cancer among 600,000 women. The results showed each additional pound at birth was linked to a 7-percent increase in breast cancer risk.

More research will determine if whether hormones, diet, or genes play a role in this increased risk.
