A report by the L.A. County Department of Health and the Alzheimer's Association finds that at least 147,000 Angelenos have Alzheimer's. Researchers estimate that number will nearly double to 280,000 by the year 2030.
The cost of caring for Alzheimer's patients will also double. The report says officials must plan to address the needs of that growing population.
