L.A. Alzheimer's patients to double

The number of people in Los Angeles with Alzheimer's disease will nearly double in 22 years, a new report says.A report by the L.A. County Department of Health and the Alzheimer's Association finds that at least 147,000 Angelenos have Alzheimer's. Researchers estimate that number will nearly double to 280,000 by the year 2030.

The cost of caring for Alzheimer's patients will also double. The report says officials must plan to address the needs of that growing population.
