A 26-foot boat left Long Beach two nights ago, bound for Catalina, and it never arrived.
The debris included a small boat, life jackets, children's toys and other personal items, as well as fiberglass particles from the barge.
"It's an ongoing investigation. When you are out on the water, there are all kinds of hazards. We're looking into that with our coast guard investigators," said Ensign Stephanie Young from the U.S. Coast Guard.
The name of the boat that might have sunk and who owns the boat have not been released.
