Last weekend for boats on local lake

The lake, Southern California's largest reservoir, was designed as an emergency source of water in case supplies from Northern California or the Colorado River were cut off.

The Metropolitan Water District says customers would have been put on rationing several years ago if it weren't for the water in Diamond Valley Lake, but now water levels are down nearly 40 percent, and the district says it's already discussing when to implement restrictions on water use.
