Free coffee and donuts for Southland voters

LOS ANGELES Now two major chains have an enticing offer.

Starbucks says it will give anyone who casts a ballot a free cup of coffee.

Krispy Kreme is also trying to get people to the polls. The Donut maker says they will hand out special red, white and blue star-shaped donuts to voters.

To get the treats, voters will have to show their "I Voted" sticker.

But there may be a problem.

California has a law that bans giving things to people to vote or stay away from the polls.

Violators could get 16 months to three years in prison.
