November 12, 2008 10:53:32 AM PST
One of the world's biggest hospital equipment makers has developed a so-called "intelligent pill".The iPill contains a microprocessor, wireless radio and a drug reservoir, and it can release medication in a specific area of the body.

The capsule can reportedly be used to treat digestive tract disorders.

The ability to deliver medication directly to the location of the disease means doses can be lower, which could reduce side effects.
