L.A. Sheriff's has rape kits in storage

LOS ANGELES This admission comes in the wake of recent controversy over the LAPD's glut of 7,000 rape kits waiting to be processed.

The Sheriff's Department says it aims to first examine the kits that have been in storage longest. Kits that have not been examined within 10 years cannot be used to prosecute suspects due to the statute of limitations.
