Report links in vitro to birth defects

A new report finds babies born with the help of assisted reproduction have higher rates of certain defects.Assisted reproduction includes things like in vitro fertilization.

The CDC study found infants born through assisted reproduction have twice as many heart defects and cleft palates and nearly four times as many gastrointestinal defects as those conceived without technology.

However, authors say the overall birth defect rate using assisted reproduction was still low.
