Millions may be cut from L.A. programs

LOS ANGELES According to the L.A. Times, the city expects to be $110 million in the red, and that number is expected to jump to $300 million next year.

The budget office is now recommending cuts to several programs.

They include about $1.5 million from the library budget, $800,000 from the city's tree-trimming program, $1 million from the crossing guards program, and nearly $2 million from a program that replaces old squad cars.

The budget committee will consider the cuts on Monday.
