November 21, 2008 10:03:23 AM PST
Babies born in the four months before the peak cold and flu season have a 30 percent higher chance of developing asthma, according to researchers at Vanderbilt University. The report suggests a link between cold and flu, and even asthma.

The study looked at the medical records of 95,000 babies.

It's long been known that babies born in the northern hemisphere in the fall months are at a higher risk of asthma, but it's the first to specifically tie asthma to cold and flu.
