December 22, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
There's new information now about kids who suffer from diabetes.According to researchers at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, almost 75 percent of children and adolescents with Type 1 diabetes lack vitamin D.

Vitamin D deficiencies can lead to bone problems later in life, especially among those with Type 1 diabetes.

Researchers are not sure whether vitamin D would prevent diabetes related bone disease in diabetic children, but do say taking vitamin D supplements is a good idea.
