Most kids with diabetes lack vitamin D

BOSTON According to researchers at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, almost 75 percent of children and adolescents with Type 1 /*diabetes*/ lack vitamin D.

/*Vitamin D*/ deficiencies can lead to bone problems later in life, especially among those with Type 1 diabetes.

Researchers are not sure whether vitamin D would prevent diabetes related bone disease in diabetic children, but do say taking vitamin D supplements is a good idea.
