Man arrested for starting 5 O.C. fires

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. Matthew Deason allegedly used a cigarette lighter to ignite the blazes in adjacent areas of Mission Viejo and Laguna Hills on Sunday night. The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that he was arrested after being questioned by sheriff's deputies.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg McKeown says the first blaze began in a commercial trash bin outside a vacant Mervyn's store. The second fire burned in a grassy patch across Interstate 5 in Laguna Hills. The other fires were reported in the rear of a two-story office building, a building under construction and in an apartment complex recreation room.
