Antiobitics before infections save lives

A New England Journal of Medicine study found ICU patients given regular doses of antibiotics to fight nasal and stomach infections faired better.

It saved about one out of 30 lives and reduced hospital stays.

But critics worry giving prophylactic antibiotics increase the risk of contracting drug resistant superbugs.
