Tip leads cops to arrest in ATM robbery

EL MONTE, Calif. Authorities said a tipster led them to Maricela Segura, 40, and Jaime Murua, 37, in their Koreantown apartment on Tuesday.

The couple is accused of kidnapping a woman at knifepoint on Dec. 20 and forcing her to withdraw $400 from an ATM.

Police said the victim was at the mall when one of the suspects dropped a shopping bag that contained a gold chain.

He then disappeared, but the victim was approached by the second suspect, who asked if she wanted to sell the gold chain and split the profit.

When the victim refused, the woman allegedly pulled out a knife and forced the victim to get into an SUV. The suspect drove the victim to her home to get her bank card. They then drove to an ATM in San Gabriel. The victim was surprised because the suspect knew where she lived. Police say the suspect may have been following the victim.

The victim was eventually dropped off at home unhurt.

A photo of the suspect was caught on the Bank of America ATM camera.

The suspects face charges of kidnapping and armed robbery.
