Men walking alone robbed in Silver Lake

LOS ANGELES Investigators say the robberies are not hate crimes. In a news conference, the LAPD says the victims were not singled out because of sexual orientation.

Four of the robberies turned violent, and the assaults happened at all hours, even in broad daylight.

Residents say the police should have warned them earlier:

Police believe the suspects, who travel in groups of two or four, could be gang members.
