Women stroke patients lack ER care

They found the answer might be in a study that found women wait longer for care in the ER than men do.

Researchers also found women were 14 percent less likely to receive treatment with clot busting drugs, aspirin therapy or cholesterol treatment.

And women waited 15 percent longer to get a CAT scan. One reason women may wait longer is because they are less likely to exhibit classic stroke symptoms, and medical staff may be slower to recognize strokes in women.
