Woman stabbed to death at Promenade Mall

TEMECULA, Calif. According to /*Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez*/, a Temecula police sergeant was making a routine patrol on the third level of the five-level east parking lot of the mall about 1 p.m. Thursday when he came upon a man attacking a woman.

The assailant was stabbing the victim inside of a minivan.

The sergeant ordered the attacker to drop the weapon, but the attacker did not comply. The sergeant and a backup officer broke the rear windshield of the minivan.

The sergeant used a Taser gun on the attacker, and the suspect was arrested without further incident.

The woman died from multiple stab wounds at the scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital.

The woman is reportedly from Riverside County. The suspect is from the Pala area of San Diego County. The suspect is currently detained.
