Councilman pushes uniforms for LAUSD

LOS ANGELES Councilman Jose Huizar introduced a motion on Wednesday calling for school uniforms in all L.A. Unified schools.

Huizar, a former school board president, says uniforms could help reduce violence and disciplinary problems and benefit lower income students who cannot afford expensive clothing.

The city council's rules and government committee is now considering the motion.
