Cool Kid's culinary talents raise spirits

SEAL BEACH, Calif. "It's the one thing we have in common, we all have to eat," says Chris. "So, why not help? Why not give food to those who can't eat? And I get to cook it ... I love doing that."

At /*Seva Cafe*/, diners pay what they can - - or nothing at all -- depending on their economic situation. For the people who put it all together, Chris is an exceptional helper.

"He's a young guy. There's so many things he could be doing with his time, but week in, week out he chooses to show up here to serve others. That's really admirable," said Sukh Chugh, Seva Café Organizer.

Feeding people is his goal; cooking is his art.

"It's like drawing a picture or painting something," says Chris. "The plate is your canvas and you can just build on that."

Chris always hopes his guests enjoy the meals he prepares. He also wants them to understand why he prepares it.

"When I see the way they react to the food and that gracious feel ... that I hope I'm giving out. I know I could do that the rest of my life," says Chris.

With equal measurements of a creative chef and a caring heart, Chris Lounsbury is our "Cool Kid."
