Dog reunited with dead owner's family

SAN DIEGO One year-old "Zak" and his owner, Robert Shields, a cross-country trucker from Poway, were driving through Nebraska last weekend when Shields had a heart attack, crashed his truck and died.

The local humane society rescued Zak, took him to an Omaha animal shelter, and contacted Shields's family, who desperately wanted the dog back. The humane society worked out a deal with American Airlines, which agreed to fly Zak home for free.

The dog arrived in San Diego Tuesday and was reunited with his family.
