Fire damages classroom at Van Nuys school

VAN NUYS, Calif. Crews responded to the east side of the campus at 6535 Cedros Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Sunday. It took firefighters less than half an hour to put the fire out.

The flames ripped through a one-story bungalow style building that housed a pair of classrooms.

One classroom was heavily damaged. Firefighters say the room that was gutted appeared to be used for performing arts.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

There's no damage estimate yet.
