Sacramento mayor: 'Tent cities' to close?

SACRAMENTO, Calif. Sacramento's Mayor Kevin Johnson has announced that the /*tent cities*/ may have to close because they are on public land, with very limited access and no sanitation facilities.

Mayor Johnson also says the living conditions in the tent cities are dangerous because they are located on a flood plain.

Johnson says the people living there exist in an inhumane situation, much like refugees in third world countries.

The mayor has suggested finding a more appropriate public location with sanitation facilities and improved safety measures.

Johnson has also formed a task force to look into Sacramento's homeless problem and possible remedies.
