U.S. Labor Secretary returns to L.A.

LOS ANGELES /*Solis*/ represented neighboring East Los Angeles in the Congress prior to her appointment as Labor Secretary; this was her first official visit to Los Angeles since her confirmation.

Earlier this week, Solis addressed the California Assembly, where she also served between 1992 and 1994. In her speech there, Solis said the /*recession*/ has been especially hard on women. She cited /*U.S. Census Bureau*/ figures that show women make, on average, 73 cents for every dollar earned by men.

The Secretary is also visiting several job training organizations during her California trip.
