Fundraiser to save Ventura library

VENTURA, Calif. By mid-March, the volunteer nonprofit group had raised $38,000 of the $280,000 needed by April to keep the 42-year-old library from closing at the end of June.

Officials may close the Ventura County library because of a $650,000 budget shortfall.

The /*H.P. Wright Library*/ is on the east end of Ventura, and its collection would go to the /*E.P. Foster Library*/ in downtown.

A final decision is expected in April.
