State sues contractors for fraud

The state board has released video of an undercover "sting" operation against a company called S.R.V.S. Charge Incorporated. The company has settled a $3-million lawsuit against the state.

Officials say S.R.V.S. took part in a massive scheme to defraud thousands of consumers by charging excessive fees for substandard electrical, plumbing, heating and air-conditioning services. Investigators say consumers lost millions in the scheme and there may be thousands of victims of such practices statewide.

The state says S.R.V.S. ripped off its customers in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you've been defraud by this company, you're urged to contact the State License Board at (800) 321-CSLB, or (800) 321-2752, and then press extension 7.
