All teens may be screened for depression

The recommendation goes further than the guidelines set by the /*American Academy of Pediatrics*/.

The U.S. Preventive Services task force says that nearly 2 million teens suffer from depression.

Evidence shows that simple questionnaires can accurately diagnose depression in settings like a pediatrician's office. The group even recommends testing kids who do not show any symptoms.

The recommendations are in next month's issue of the journal Pediatrics.
