4.3-magnitude quake hits Northern Calif.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. The /*U.S. Geological Survey*/ said the /*earthquake*/ had a preliminary magnitude of 4.3, and struck around 10:40 a.m. It was centered 11 miles north of the city of Morgan Hill, or about 16 miles south east of San Jose.

A Morgan Hill police dispatcher said there were no reports of injuries or damage.

Bay Area Rapid Transit and San Francisco municipal transit suspended service for several minutes to do a routine after-earthquake check for damages.
