7-year-old boy injured in hit-and-run

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. Police say the driver hit the boy near the corner of Florence Avenue and Figueroa Street. They say the driver then got out of the car and tried to grab a cell phone the boy's brother was using to record the car's license plate number. When he failed to get the phone, he got back in the car and took off.

The boy survived, but suffered a broken leg.

Police on Wednesday released a composite sketch of the suspect. He is described as black, in his early to mid-20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a slender build and tattoos on his face, neck, and arms.

The car was a gold, four-door 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass with 22-inch chrome rims, California license number 2DLB949.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7.
