Tree crashes through home, traps teen

POLK COUNTY, Fla. Nineteen-year-old Bendric Joseph and his 17-year-old brother, Freddy, say they were watching a comedy clip on their computer when the tree toppled onto their Polk County home Wednesday.

Freddy was hit in the head by falling debris, but Bendric was trapped under the wreckage.

"4 x 4's were on my stomach, squeezing down on me and the tree was on it so it was making it hard to breathe," said Bendric.

It took rescuers an hour to free him.

"I was praying, like whoever is out there listening, you know just let me get through this because I don't want to die under a tree," said Bendric.

Bendric is sore and bruised, but doctors say he's going to be okay. He and his brother are out of the hospital and are recovering at a motel room provided by the /*Red Cross*/.

Bendric says, because he was on his side, the tree missed his vital organs.

Meanwhile, the house is so damaged the family is forced to find another place to live.

"I just hope can find someplace to live and start back over," said Sandra Bindu Joseph-Marquis, the boys' mother.

Rescuers say high winds may have caused the rotting tree to fall.
