Tanker cars derail in La Mirada train yard

LA MIRADA, Calif. Five cars derailed just before 6:30 a.m., with three falling into a creek bed.

Los Angeles County emergency crews say one car leaked a small amount of ethyl alcohol.

Another car that was carrying potassium hydroxide remained upright.

A hazardous materials team was dispatched to the scene.

The freight train was on its way from Barstow to Los Angeles at the time of the derailment.

There were no evacuations and no one was hurt.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
