Man returns to ransacked home, finds wife dead

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. "We have information that the house was ransacked," said Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Alan Hamilton. "We're going to continue to look into that as a possible motive for the homicide."

The woman's husband told police he came home around noon and found the body of his 66-year-old wife and the house wrecked. Investigators said the husband called a friend who called came over to the house, and the friend then called 911.

Neighbors are still stunned by the crime and said the area is typically a safe neighborhood.

"I was shocked because nothing like this has ever happened on this street," said Ashur Lazari who lives near the couple's home on Teesdale Avenue. "It's a pretty safe neighborhood. Nothing this violent has ever happened."

Investigators said the victim suffered severe trauma to her upper body, however coroners will conduct an autopsy to discover the exact cause of death.
