Residents displaced after Hollywood fire

MELROSE, Calif. The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. in a vacant single-family home near New Hampshire and Melrose avenues.

The home was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire was so intense that it damaged surrounding structures, including a commercial structure and an apartment building.

About 17 people from the apartment building are currently displaced.

"I'm sleepy, tired and a little shaken up," said Walter Morales, a resident displaced by the fire.

The /*Red Cross*/ is providing fire victims with shelter and a debit card for groceries.

No residents or firefighters were injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
