OC man sentenced to life for stabbing

SANTA ANA, Calif. Investigators say Marquez used two knives to stab the victim 98 times. The knives broke with the force of the attack. Marquez also stabbed Clark's dog 60 times with the same knives.

Marquez stole the victim's belongings, crammed them into the victim's pickup, and drove away.

The two men met when Marquez went to install a television satellite dish at Clark's home. Clark often let him stay because Marquez had no place to live.

Clark kicked Marquez out of the home when he discovered his guest stealing his fishing poles. Marquez returned to burglarize the residence. When Clark confronted him, Marquez stabbed him and his dog.

Orange County Superior Court Judge William Froeberg sentenced Marquez for first degree murder, animal abuse, unlawful taking of a vehicle, and the special circumstance allegations of murder during a burglary and murder with torture.
