Target to add fresh food sections

Most Targets already sell some food, primarily pre-packaged items. Now, the retailer plans to add mini-groceries stocked with fresh food items to 100 new and remodeled stores this year.

The move comes in response to the economic downturn, with groceries being seen as relatively recession proof.

If the plan proves successful, /*Target*/ says it could eventually add mini-groceries to most of its 1300 stores.
