Green tea helps prevent HIV?

A chemical found in green tea could help protect women from HIV transmission during sex.Researchers in Germany found that a green tea polyphenol neutralizes a protein in sperm that facilitates HIV transmission.

The scientists say adding the chemical to feminine creams could be a low cost way to reduce the sexual transmission of HIV in poor and developing countries.

The study is published in the online Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
